We had a lot of visitors for Maggie's baptism on February 21. We were so thankful to have both sets of Grandparents here, an aunt, an uncle, and all 4 sponsors! There weren't many dry eyes among our group during the service. Several other extended family members and friends from California also joined the festivities at Peace too. We had a wonderful potluck reception after the service and were joined by tons of Peace members. It made the day so special for us, and we'll have great memories in years to come! What a blessing to have so many people help welcome Maggie into God's family. :-D
Mom and the girls have been at home now for a couple weeks, getting into a sort of schedule and getting used to one another. Norah is doing a wonderful job with her sister, being gentle and helping out when she can. She loves to get diapers and wipes for Mom, give her sister kisses, read books to Maggie, and try to soothe away her tears. So far she's doing a great job of not getting jealous, although we know there are times when Norah would rather not have to WAIT when we're busy with Maggie for the moment. We're looking forward to the girls being great friends when they're a little older.

Maggie turned 1 month old on March 5. Since she was born in February, she was 4 weeks old that same day. Jana thinks that's neat. :) Time has gone by so fast, and Maggie is quickly changing. She's learning to hold her head up and loves looking around for friendly faces. She started smiling around 2 1/2 or 3 weeks, and is working on perfecting that adorable baby coo right now. Lately she's done much better getting her days and nights figured out, and now goes about 5 hours at some point during the night. We all have much more energy because of it! Jana watches her dairy intake carefully and that seems to help Maggie's tummy too. Maggie loves tummy time and riding in the sling while Jana works around the apartment, goes to the laundry room, or does some shopping. Since it is Lent, we've been to church A LOT in the last couple weeks. Both girls do a great job there. Norah is participating a lot more... folding her hands for prayers and following along in the hymnal while "singing." It's pretty cute. Maggie is good during church too, unless she's hungry.
A couple other random updates, not about the girls... sorry. :)
- Pastor Young is in IL now for his father's funeral, so Tim has been extremely busy at church taking over all Pastor's duties in addition to the extra Lent things. He hasn't had a day off in a couple weeks (including weekend days!) and on average is not at home for the nighttime routine about 3 nights a week. We'll see him again after Easter. ;-)
- We are moving! YAY! A wonderful family from church offered to let us move into their condo right after Easter for the remainder of our time here. It's HUGE, clean, nicely kept, and has an outside area for Norah to play. We know it'll be a lot of work, but think it's worth it for our (Jana's especially) sanity. We don't have many personal belongings here anyway, and will just box up and store most of what we brought that we don't use regularly now instead of in July.
Hi Jana,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say i enjoyed your comment on our new blog :). It's funny that you pointed me to yours, because I read it quite often actually. You write very well and your family is just beautiful! I felt it was only fair to invite you to read ours since I read yours so much. Congratulations on your newest daughter - what a precious, beautiful blessing!
