It's official... Aaron's ONE!

We had a big party for Aaron while we were in WI a few weeks ago, so his birthday was a little more low-key and relaxed.  We had a lot of fun just the 5 of us celebrating our littlest family member's first year of life.  We love you, Sweet Boy!

Aaron got a doodler for his birthday, just like his sisters have.  No more fighting over them!

It POURED on our way in to Walmart to pick up Aaron's gift from Grandma and Grandpa.

Good thing we didn't have too many things to get, that's a BIG box!

Culvers for Aaron's birthday lunch.  He loved the fries!

And of course he loved the frozen custard, but we already knew that!

Norah and Mommy built Aaron's climber/slide while he and Maggie took naps in the afternoon.  He loves it!

Spaghetti for dinner.  It's one of the only table foods we can really count on Aaron eating a sufficient amount.

Mommy made this shirt for Aaron using bleach in a spray bottle.  Next time we'll know to just start with 100% bleach instead of a solution so we don't have to do it 4 times!

Aaron is ONE! (Almost...)

We celebrated Aaron's 1st birthday a little early since we were in WI to visit. It was great to have my brothers and sister and their significant others there, along with Great Grandpa and Great Grandma. Grandpa and Grandma Kanz (my parents) were the hosts.

Of course, Aaron had to have the traditional birthday donut for breakfast.  I think he liked it, just maybe.  We might be on our way to table food!

Norah and Maggie were out running errands with Grandma and Jessi, so Dad and Aaron were my buddies while I put together and decorated Aaron's cake.  And they were plenty happy to help dispose of the extra frosting left in the piping bag.  Sugar high anyone?

We had a farm themed party, so we all dressed the part.  I realize I look ridiculous in this picture, but I was willing to sacrifice my dignity since this was the best shot for everyone else.  Also, I won't be wearing the purple shirt again for a long time.  I didn't realize how unflattering it is.  :(

It was clear to me that Aaron recognized the Toy Story characters on this wrapping paper.  He kept pointing at them and smiling.  He got a TS towel for at Grandma's house too and did the same thing with that.  All three Toy Story movies are among Norah's favorites, and I'm sure Aaron's seen them before.  He doesn't really know any other characters I don't think.

This is Aaron's farm yard cake.  I had a lot of fun making this!

Well, this is about what Aaron thought of the cake.  He doesn't really eat table food much yet and wasn't interested in gobbling it up like the girls did at their 1st birthdays.

BUT, he did have fun just smashing it everywhere, including all over his face in in his hair.  :)  It made us think of how our friends in Fort Wayne encouraged the girls to do this.  They'd have been proud of our Sweet Boy!
